It would also be a way for games companies to "think different". Seems like you would get money from people like me (I may actually buy a system for this), it would distribute the development and offload heaving lifting to interested players (who are already doing the teams), and create a SUPER amount of goodwill and buzz for a certain console, especially in the later stages of its life when people just wait for the next system (like me). Like what people are doing for PS3, but for current game systems and graphics. A laser focus on improving and refining core gameplay has resulted in the most fluid college basketball game to date. They don't have to develop it themselves (the big companies) but give users a format and structure with players and basic arenas where we could put our own teams into.
It would be great if Microsoft or Sony (who ever wants my money) would create a structure and make it free to download (or maybe $5 a year) that would require people like us to make the teams.
